Chapters 3 through 12 detail the early experiences of Seto, a former child soldier, and his unexpected encounter with Satis, a disgraced demon general. Seto, known as "Destruction and Storm" for his ferocity in battle, was ostracized by his hero party for his excessive violence and lack of social skills. Abandoned by the hero and his companions, he finds himself alone and hungry in a forest.
His survival instincts lead him to forage, but he soon stumbles upon a severely injured Satis. Satis, once a formidable demon general, is now broken and traumatized, having been brutally tortured and abandoned by her own demon army after failing her duties. Seto, despite their past animosity, decides to help her, taking her to a mountain hut and providing for her.
Over the next few days, a fragile bond forms between them. Satis, initially terrified and distrustful, gradually opens up about her horrific experiences and the psychological torment she endured. Seto, in turn, shares his own past as a child soldier, his lack of understanding of social norms, and his deep-seated loneliness and feeling of worthlessness after being cast out by the hero party. He reveals that his only purpose was to fight, and even then, he struggled with basic tasks.
Their shared experiences of trauma and abandonment create a unique understanding between them. Satis, witnessing Seto's unusual maturity and kindness despite his harsh upbringing, begins to see him differently. Seto, in turn, is moved by Satis's vulnerability and her own broken spirit.
Their journey together begins when Seto proposes they travel, and Satis, with nowhere else to go, agrees. They head towards the city of Clay Shut, a place Satis knows offers a safe haven and a renowned public bath. During their travels, Seto demonstrates his exceptional combat prowess by effortlessly defeating a group of monsters that attack them, further solidifying Satis's reliance on him.
In Clay Shut, they experience a semblance of normalcy. They enjoy the public baths and a delicious meal, with Satis using her spatial magic to manage their supplies. Seto, for the first time, experiences the joy of anticipation and the simple pleasure of companionship. Their interactions reveal Seto's naivete and Satis's growing affection for him, as she uses her mature demeanor to both tease and comfort him. The chapters conclude with them sharing a room at an inn, where Satis, using a gentle magic, helps a flustered Seto fall asleep, hinting at a deepening, complex relationship. Meanwhile, the hero party, having driven Seto away, finds themselves in dire straits, ambushed by monsters and struggling with internal conflict and a lack of resources, highlighting the stark contrast between their current predicament and Seto's burgeoning journey.
