May 2042. Two and a half years have passed since the Great West Japan Earthquake, with its epicenter in the Nankai Trough, struck.
In remote areas across Japan, unnatural fissures were appearing one after another.
However, because they were sealed off under the pretext of investigation, not even the landowners could discern what lay within.
Amidst this, a new fissure, the latest in dozens of such sites nationwide, is discovered in a cedar forest.
The boy who discovered it, wanting to investigate himself, slipped into the fissure.
